For the record, I hate the word “skinny.” Ew. How diet culture-esque. BUT now that it’s the beginning of a new year (and everyone wants to step up their nutrition game), you’ll be looking for some salty, savory snacks to replace your potato chip habit. Having these skinny salty snacks in your back pocket (or your purse) will help you out.
These snacks are way better for 2 reasons:
- they provide a crunchy texture and salty/savory taste
- they have a little protein and fiber to keep you full!
Skinny pop 100-cal snack bags
These are a great salty snack because they’re lightly salted, portion-controlled, and easy to throw into your purse or lunch bag. I like to pair one of these with a light cheese stick or a few nuts to keep me fuller longer for a 200-cal snack.

Harvest snaps
Harvest snaps are the best replacement if you typically love chips with a sandwich. You get a large portion for fewer calories, and they pack a fiber and protein bonus too! I love the wide variety of flavors they come in. You’ll never look in my pantry and NOT see these. You can normally find these in the produce section.
Roasted chickpeas
I love these for the same reason I love Harvest Snaps. They’re crunchy, they’re flavored, and you get a lot for little calories. Find them in the nut aisle and give them a try. Similarly, I also love the fava beans and peas.

Pistachios
If you haven’t tried the chili roasted pistachios with NO SHELLS, don’t walk- RUN- to your nearest supermarket and pick these up. Since these are nuts, they’ll be a little higher calorie, but so satisfying. Have a quarter cup of these mid-morning and you won’t be hangry at lunch.
Whichever snack you choose, these skinny salty snacks are a cut above your basic old chips. You’ll never go back. Happy New Year!
